You already know yoga works. But do you know why?
This workshop goes beneath the surface of practice to explore the science your body has been running all along — and how yoga, when understood through that lens, becomes less of a routine and more of a conversation with your own physiology.
Dr. Kerry — Doctor of Physical Therapy, Herman & Wallace pelvic health specialist, and 500-hour yoga teacher — brings together neuroscience, somatic awareness, and embodied practice to explore how your autonomic nervous system shapes every breath, every hold, and every moment of stillness on the mat.
We'll cover:
How the autonomic nervous system works and why it matters in a yoga context
Polyvagal theory and what it actually means for how we regulate (and dysregulate)
The specific effects of breath, movement, and stillness on your nervous system
Why some practices restore you — and why some secretly keep you stuck in stress
Then we'll feel it. This isn't a lecture. You'll experience each concept in your body, bridging real science with real sensation.
This workshop is for you if: You're a yoga student who wants to understand your practice at a deeper level — or a yoga teacher ready to bring more intentionality and clinical grounding to how you sequence, cue, and hold space. No prerequisites. All bodies, all levels, all welcome.
